The story of how an unhoused man who dealt with frequent displacement in Stockton
William Payne, who gave a different last name to each person he met, and his dog Princess, 4, at the first site in March.
Payne's last sighting near Stockton DMV on March 9 before he was evacuated.
On March 22, debris was left behind at the empty lot.
Evacuation notice at a homeless encampment under Interstate 5.
Found Payne at another site following a physician assistant with Community Medical Centers. She prescribed him free medication for his condition.
Payne said he would plug the wire into a portable charger to charge his phone, but he had not gotten a moment yet.
Found him, again, after losing him three times due to displacement.
As a part of his “hustle,” Payne takes soda cans to a recycling unit near his tent in Stockton.
About $5 in cash, the money he made from recycling soda cans.
